West Asia Crisis: PM Modi Meets Chief Ministers, Focus On Supplies And Preparedness

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a virtual meeting with several Chief Ministers to discuss the impact of the ongoing West Asia conflict on India. The meeting focused on preparedness, coordination with states, and ensuring that essential supplies remain stable amid rising global tensions.

Senior Union ministers and multiple state leaders joined the discussion, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

Among the Chief Ministers present were N Chandrababu Naidu, Revanth Reddy, Yogi Adityanath, Omar Abdullah, Bhagwant Mann, Mohan Yadav, Hemant Soren, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Bhupendra Patel, and Devendra Fadnavis.

Their participation reflects a coordinated national approach to handle any fallout from the international crisis.

Poll-Bound States Skip Meeting

However, Chief Ministers from poll-bound states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, and Puducherry did not attend the meeting.

Their absence is due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, which restricts participation in certain official activities during election periods.

Officials have indicated that a separate meeting will be held with the Chief Secretaries of these states to ensure coordination.

Government's Key Concerns

The Centre's primary concerns remain the impact of the West Asia conflict on India's economy and citizens. Rising oil prices, supply chain disruptions, and the safety of Indians living in the Gulf region are among the major issues being closely monitored.

The government is also working to prevent panic buying or hoarding of essential goods, which could create unnecessary shortages in the domestic market.
