Bengaluru Weather Forecast on May 18

The much-anticipated match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, is under the shadow of looming rain clouds. Weather forecasts predict that on 18th May, there would possibility of moderate to heavy rains, setting the stage for a rain-affected game.

According to most meteorological models, the rains are expected post dusk, with the period between 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM being particularly conducive to widespread rainfall in the city. The intensity of the downpour is expected to reduce slightly between 10:15 PM and 12:00 AM.

However, in contrast to this report, Vijay, a renowned weather enthusiast known for his popular page 'Namma Karnataka Weather,' suggests that the ICON model indicates early showers with weather clearing up by 7:00 PM.

While these model predictions provide insight into weather patterns, it's important to remember that weather forecasting, especially for extended periods, carries inherent uncertainties. Factors such as abrupt changes in atmospheric patterns or localised weather events can change the actual outcome. Therefore, it's wise to be cautious and take a "wait and see" approach regarding the predicted rainfall.

Meanwhile, the match officials and teams will have to closely monitor the weather conditions, as the cut-off time to call off the match due to rain extends into late hours. However, there remains a glimmer of hope for a shortened match, considering the efficiency of the drainage system at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

If the match is called off due to rain, the CSK team will advance to the playoffs. The Chennai Super Kings, currently at 14 points, will receive one point, bringing their total to 15. This will lead to the elimination of the RCB team from the IPL, as they have 13 points.

It must be noted that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued an ORANGE alert for Bengaluru, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall in the city on May 18. Fans and players alike will be hoping for a thrilling and rain-free encounter between the two cricketing giants.
