The Northeast monsoon officially began in Tamil Nadu on October 15 and initially brought heavy and unexpected rainfall across the state.

Several districts witnessed a sharp rise in water levels, raising concerns about flooding during November and December. However, after the early spell of intense rain, the monsoon weakened, leaving many areas disappointed due to reduced rainfall toward the later months.

As the season comes to a close, weather conditions across South India are now showing calmer patterns, with fog, mist and haze becoming more common in the mornings.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather on Saturday, January 17, is expected to remain largely stable across major southern cities. No major weather warnings have been issued, though visibility may be affected in some regions due to fog and haze.

City-Wise Weather Update

Hyderabad:

Hyderabad is likely to see a partly cloudy sky with haze throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to range between 18°C and 31°C. Humidity levels may stay between 34 percent and 64 percent. No weather alerts have been issued for the city.

Amaravati:

Amaravati may experience fog or mist during the morning hours, followed by a partly cloudy sky later in the day. The temperature is expected to stay between 20°C and 31°C. Moderate fog could affect early morning visibility.

Bengaluru:

Bengaluru is expected to witness misty conditions, especially during the early hours. The minimum temperature may drop to around 17°C, while the maximum is likely to reach 28°C. Humidity levels are expected to range from 50 percent to 75 percent. No warnings have been issued.

Thiruvananthapuram:

Thiruvananthapuram is likely to experience a partly cloudy sky. Temperatures may range between 23°C and 34°C, with high humidity levels between 70 percent and 90 percent. Weather conditions are expected to remain calm.

Chennai:

Chennai may wake up to fog and mist in the morning, with partly cloudy skies later in the day. Temperatures are expected to range from 22°C to 31°C. No weather warnings have been issued for the city.
