Wagh Bakri Owner Suffers Brain Hemorrhage After Falling While Escaping Stray Dogs

Parag Desai, a respected figure and the Executive Director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, met with a tragic accident that led to his untimely demise. The 49-year-old Ahmedabad native suffered grievous head injuries while attempting to escape an attack by stray dogs during his evening stroll in the Ambali area, situated at the heart of the city.

His injury, sustained when he fell last week, led to a brain hemorrhage. Despite the medical efforts to save him, he passed away in a hospital on Sunday evening, while he was under the care of a ventilator.

The Wagh Bakri Tea Group, renowned for its significant presence in the Indian tea processing industry, operates across over a dozen states in India and exports its products to numerous countries, boasting an impressive annual turnover of approximately Rs 2000 crore.

In an Instagram post, the company expressed profound sorrow at the loss of their beloved Parag Desai.

Desai had been admitted to the hospital for the past week, receiving treatment for a severe head injury sustained when he fell while attempting to outrun a group of street dogs that were pursuing him.

Upon his arrival at the emergency department, around 6 pm, Desai was unconscious and unresponsive. Despite the initial assumption that the dogs had bitten him, no evidence of dog bite marks was found on his body. A subsequent CT scan, however, revealed an acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion.

In recent times, Shalby hospital has witnessed a surge in cases related to injuries caused by dog bites or accidents involving stray animals, underscoring the importance of public safety and awareness.

After initially being admitted to Shalby hospital, which is in close proximity to his residence, Desai was later transferred to Zydus hospital, where he, regrettably, succumbed to his injuries.

Company officials also disclosed to local media that Desai's injuries occurred when he fell during his routine evening walk while attempting to evade a group of stray dogs.
