Viral Video Shows Scenes From Hathras Satsang Just Before Deadly Stampede

A video has surfaced showing the massive crowd gathered at a 'satsang' in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, just moments before the tragic stampede that claimed the lives of 121 people and left 28 others injured. The footage shows the densely packed shamiana, with men, women, and children eagerly seeking a glimpse of Bhole Baba aka Narayan Saakar Hari.

Eyewitnesses recounted that after the satsang concluded, devotees rushed towards the exit, while others moved in the opposite direction to collect soil touched by the preacher, causing a buildup of people in a confined area.

Despite the large number of attendees, reports indicate that the event's arrangements were inadequate, leading to chaos and panic. BBJP leader Laxmikant Bajpai expressed condolences to the victims' families and urged the government to provide free treatment to the injured.

MLA Arun Asim stated that 121 lives have been lost so far, with 19 bodies yet to be identified. He mentioned that the stampede occurred after the program concluded and as people attempted to leave. Allegedly, organizers obstructed the crowded path, contributing to a situation where women and children fell into a pit and sustained injuries.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promptly ordered an investigation into the incident, overseen by ADG Zone Agra. An FIR has been filed, and those found responsible will face legal consequences. Medical examinations are ongoing for injured women, with treatment actively underway. The state government has announced compensation of ₹2 lakh for each deceased victim's family and ₹50,000 for the injured.

Chief Minister Adityanath personally visited the hospital to meet with the injured and the families of the deceased, assessing the situation and issuing necessary directives.
