Viral Airport Video Shows Exhausted Passengers Eating Food On Tarmac, Next To Plane

Due to the dense fog and adverse weather conditions, several flights have been delayed, diverted, or canceled since Sunday. Commuters had to wait for hours resulting in chaos at the airport. Passengers were not happy with the airlines who said that they don't have enough trained pilots who can fly the challenging weather.

Earlier today, a man slapped an airline's staff member, some yelled at them, while hundreds protested near the check-in counters. Now a video showing passengers sitting on the ground and eating food near the planes is doing round the internet.

Exhausted Passengers Eating Food On Tarmac, Next To Plane

"... Passengers of IndiGo Goa-Delhi who after 12-hour delayed flight got diverted to Mumbai having dinner just next to IndiGo plane," a user on X said in a video post.

The video shows exhausted passengers sitting on the tarmac meters away from an IndiGo plane, and having their meals.

The turmoil at Delhi Airport subsequently triggered a ripple effect across several other airports.

Hours ago, Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also tweeted some SOP's for airlines that were forced to divert or delay flights due to adverse conditions. "Yesterday, Delhi witnessed unprecedented fog wherein visibility fluctuated for several hours, and at times, dropped to zero between 5 AM to 9 AM. The authorities, therefore, were compelled to enforce a shutdown of operations for some time even on CAT III runways (CAT III runways cannot handle Zero-Visibility operations). The decision was taken keeping passenger safety in mind, which remains the foremost priority for all in the aviation ecosystem," Scindia said.

Air India in a statement today expressed regret for the inconvenience saying the disruption in operations arose due to the dense fog in north India, including at "our main Delhi hub, which resulted in some diversions and desynchronisation of aircraft and crew rotations."
