The award was announced by the All India State Road Transport Undertaking Association in New Delhi yesterday. Vijayawada Urban Division, APSRTC maintenance manager Appala Raju said their division achieved the highest fuel efficiency of 5.16 kmpl and the achievement was possible because of the effort by all including drivers and mechanics.
He said the maintenance department has undertaken continuous monitoring of the condition of the vehicles and their timely maintenance improved fuel efficiency.
Also, the drivers of the urban division have been given rigorous training on fuel consumption which also prevents accidents.
G Nagendra Prasad, Deputy Chief Traffic Manager of Vijayawada Urban Division also appreciated the efforts of the drivers in achieving the national award.
