Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi's Prakash Ambedkar Eyes Power In Maharashtra Elections

With only a few hours left to Maharashtra Assembly election results, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar said indicating that his party will chose power. He said he will decided whether he has to join MahaVikas Aghadi (MVA) or Mahayuti after the announcement of election results. With 200 candidates in the fray, Ambedkar, a descendant of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, positioned his party as a potential kingmaker. He stated, "If VBA gets the numbers, tomorrow, to support a party or an alliance to form the government in Maharashtra, we will choose to be with one who can form the government." This declaration underscores VBA's readiness to tip the scales in favor of a party or an alliance capable of governing, should they secure enough seats.

The VBA's performance in the Maharashtra assembly polls is under keen observation, especially in light of their previous electoral outing. During the 2019 state elections, the party contested 236 seats but failed to secure any victories, managing a vote share of 5.5 percent in the contested constituencies. This history places the spotlight on the VBA's potential impact on the current electoral dynamics, as their choice of alliance could be pivotal in the formation of the next state government.

The electoral process for the 288-member Maharashtra state assembly wrapped up on November 20, with the announcement of results scheduled for November 23. This timeline sets the stage for potential political shifts, depending on the outcome of the votes and the VBA's subsequent decisions. The anticipation around which party or alliance will form the government heightens, given the VBA's open declaration of its intent to side with the ablest formation post-elections.

In his message on X, Ambedkar succinctly conveyed the VBA's approach with a powerful statement, "We will choose power!" This bold proclamation not only reflects the party's ambition but also its strategic positioning as a determiner of Maharashtra's political future. By openly stating their willingness to support the formation of a government, the VBA aims to assert its influence in the state's governance, provided they achieve a favorable electoral outcome.

The VBA's electoral strategy and its implications for Maharashtra's political landscape are significant, offering a glimpse into the evolving dynamics and power structures within the state. As the results day approaches, the potential role of the VBA as a kingmaker remains a topic of widespread discussion and speculation among political circles and observers alike.
