According to an India Today report, the couple is married for seven years and undergoing a strained relationship. In fact, Indrajeet's wife has filed for divorce in the court.

The Police said Nirmal not only filed for divorce but put a condition before her husband that if he wanted to save the marriage then he should take her on a trip to US.

Police said Indrajeet who was under pressure to save his marriage decided to fulfil his wife's demand. He filled visa application mentioning that he owns a factory and his wife runs a beauty parlour. Their forgery was detected during the verification of documents, says the report.

The US Embassy officials informed the Chanakyapuri Police about the forgery and the duo was arrested.

During the interrogation, it came to fore that Indrajeet works in a private company while Nirmal is a housewife. Claiming innocence, the couple told the police that they don't know the documents were fake. They paid Rs 2,800 to a man named Sippi for the documents.

Report said the couple's passports also had a French visa stamp of December 2008. On being inquired about the same, they told the interrogators that a Connaught Place based travel agent put the stamp on their passports.
