Unprecedented security for Republic Day, Delhi turns into a fortress

The traffic police has also deployed over 1,500 personnel to manage route diversions and ensure safe and secure passage for the visiting dignitaries.

Snipers, anti-aircraft guns and nearly 60,000 security personnel have been deployed in Delhi for the Republic Day celebrations which would be not only be attended by top leaders on India but also by visiting ASEAN leaders.

Rajpath

The eight-km-long parade route from Rajpath to Red Fort will be gurded by personnel drawn from the Delhi Police and central security forces. SPG will provide security to the Prime Minister, President and ASEAN leaders on the main dais at Rajpath.

The traffic police has also deployed over 1,500 personnel to manage route diversions and ensure safe and secure passage for the visiting dignitaries.

Snipers have been stationed atop high-rise buildings while scores of CCTV cameras are keeping a tight vigil on people's movements on the parade route.

Over 600 CCTV cameras have been installed around Rajpath, India Gate, Red Fort among other places. Cameras have also been installed on those routes which would be taken by important dignitaries.

No commercial flights will land or take off at the Indira Gandhi International Airport from 10.35 AM to 12.15 PM.
