Two Labourers Killed in Roof Collapse at Under-Construction Building in Delhi's Rohini

Two labourers lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries when the roof of a building under construction collapsed in Madanpur Dabas, northwest Delhi's Rohini, on Sunday. Police identified the deceased as Ram Chander and Raj Kumar, both 30 years old and residents of Bhagya Vihar in Delhi. The injured include Sonu, 32, from Meer Vihar, while the other injured person's identity remains unknown.

Roof Collapse Claims Lives of Two Labourers

At 5:31 pm, a PCR call was received at Kanjhawala police station reporting casualties due to the roof collapse. A police team quickly arrived at the scene in Madanpur Dabas, Kanjhawala, where they learned that four injured individuals had been taken to the hospital. Additional DCP Rohini Pankaj Kumar confirmed this information.

Rescue Efforts and Investigation

The police team visited the hospital and discovered that two of the injured were declared dead upon arrival. Preliminary investigations indicated that the roof unexpectedly collapsed while the labourers were working in the evening. Authorities are taking necessary legal actions regarding this incident.

Earlier, Delhi Fire Services reported receiving a call around 5:40 pm about a house collapse in Meer Vihar, Madanpur. Five fire tenders were dispatched to the location. DFS chief Atul Garg stated that four people were rescued from the site.

This tragic event highlights the risks faced by construction workers and underscores the importance of safety measures at construction sites. The community mourns the loss of lives and hopes for a swift recovery for those injured.
