Two held for attempting to rape foreign tourist in Madhya Pradesh

Indore, Feb 8: Two employees of a hotel here have been arrested on charge of trying to rape a young woman from the Netherlands, a senior police officer said on Monday.

Additional Superintendent of Police RK Singh said the 25-year-old Amsterdam resident had come to participate in a wedding function at Hotel Mangal City in Vijaynagar police station area on Sunday.

He said when the woman went to a washroom around 1 a.m., accused Sonu Patel and Omkar Thakur followed her.

While one of the accused stood guard, the other tried to molest and rape her, the woman said. As she screamed for help, people gathered at the spot and caught the two accused.

Police said the woman tourist registered her complaint against the two on Monday.
