Yogi Adityanath Highlights Voting Rights for Tribal Communities in Uttar Pradesh Under BJP Governance
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that before the BJP's governance in Uttar Pradesh, tribal communities lacked voting rights. He mentioned that leftists and missionaries influenced these groups. Speaking at the Shri Guru Gorakhnath Swasthya Seva Yatra 5.0 event in Lucknow, he highlighted the absence of basic amenities like ration cards and connectivity for tribes before 2017.

Adityanath explained that after the BJP took charge, facilities were extended to tribes such as Tharu, Musahar, Kol, and Gond. He accused some missionaries and leftists of manipulating tribal societies. The Vantangiyas community also faced deprivation in 55 villages, posing a national security threat. Despite India's independence in 1947, exploitation by forest departments and police continued until 2017.
Tribal Empowerment and Development
Upon BJP's rise to power in 2017, these villages gained recognition as revenue villages, leading to the implementation of various schemes. Adityanath noted that many tribal people voted for the first time in the 2022 and 2024 elections. Infrastructure improvements included roads, electricity, housing, Anganwadi centres, schools, and health centres. Essential services like ration distribution, Ayushman Yojana, and pensions reached these communities.
The Chief Minister emphasised that religious yatras serve not only as expressions of faith but also as societal unifiers. The programme began with Adityanath and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale offering flowers to Lord Shri Dhanvantari, Bharat Mata, Guru Gorakhnath, and Swami Vivekananda.
Service and Sacrifice: A National Identity
Hosabale remarked that service defines India's identity more than mere prayers. He praised doctors for their commendable work and urged gratitude towards those lagging in development. "The hands which render service are more important than the lips which offer prayers," he stated.
Discussing the spirit of service, Hosabale said it transcends barriers and discrimination. During the COVID-19 pandemic, despite hardships, poor labourers maintained dignity while society supported them with food and shelter. This unity prevented food riots seen in other countries.
In the Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj, a Netra Kumbh was organised to examine thousands of people's eyes. They received medicines and glasses. Such initiatives arise from a sense of societal belonging.
The event underscored the importance of service and sacrifice as integral to India's identity. It highlighted efforts to uplift marginalised communities through development initiatives and social unity.
