TMC Leader And Actor Mimi Chakraborty Gets Rape Threats Following Her Post On Kolkata Rape-Murder Case

At the time when entire country is demanding justice for Kolkata rape and murder victim, former Trinamool Congress member and actor Mimi Chakraborty revealed that she has been receiving rape threats and lewd messages. According to the reports, the harassment and threating messages are being sent to her following her protest posts related to the Kolkata rape-murder case.

Mimi Chakraborty, who served as an MP from Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency from 2019 to 2024, shared her ordeal on social media. She tagged the Kolkata Police's cyber cell department in her post to seek help.

Protest Participation

The actor also joined a protest against the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. The demonstration took place on the night of August 14, with other actors like Riddhi Sen, Arindam Sil, and Madhumita Sarcar participating.

Mimi expressed her frustration through a tweet: "And we are demanding justice for women right? These are just few of them. Where rape threats have been normalised by venomous men masking themselves in the crowd saying they stand by women. What upbringing and education permits this???? (sic)."
