Investigation Underway After Three Decomposed Bodies Found in Kochi Customs Quarters
Three decomposed bodies were discovered at the Central Excise Staff Quarters in Kakkanad on Thursday night, in what is suspected to be a suicide case. The deceased are believed to be a senior customs officer, along with his sister and mother. The police reported that the advanced state of decomposition made identification challenging.

Access to the quarters was initially restricted, but officials managed to enter after several hours of effort. The officer had been absent from work for a few days, prompting colleagues to visit his home. Upon arrival, they noticed a foul odour and saw one body hanging through an open window.
Police Investigation Underway
The police were immediately informed and upon entering the premises, they discovered another body in a separate room. Further searches revealed a third body, believed to be the officer's mother, lying on a bed in another room. The family had lived in the quarters for about 18 months but reportedly interacted minimally with neighbours.
The strong smell from the decaying bodies had raised suspicions in the area. A thorough investigation is being conducted to uncover the circumstances of these deaths. "An examination by the forensic team is underway at the quarters," authorities stated.
The officer's absence from work led colleagues to check on him, which eventually resulted in the grim discovery. The family’s reclusive nature meant they were not well-known in the community, adding to the mystery surrounding their deaths.
As investigations continue, authorities are working to piece together what led to this tragic event. The forensic team is meticulously examining the scene for any clues that might shed light on this case.
