Telangana bans 'heavy' school bags, teachers, students cheer
The Telangana government has issued a notice to schools to stop children studying in primary level carry bags heavier than five kg.
Hyderabad, July 22: Often we see children as young as four years old carrying school bags much heavier than their age.
The guardians and child rights activists have been protesting against school managements for making children carry heavy bags as they are not only uncomfortable to travel with because of their weight, but causes health issues, including back pain.
However, hardly such pleas by parents and children are being heard by the school authorities as they want students to carry all their books and other related study materials to classrooms.
In this tussle between schools and parents, it is the young ones who are suffering the most.
Fortunately, things are going to change for students, who are studying in primary schools across Telangana. The state education department has issued a notice to all schools to stop making children, studying in primary schools, carry bags weighing more than five kg.
The much-relieved students and their teachers have welcomed the news.
"The teachers and students have welcomed the Telangana state education department's order that primary school students shouldn't carry school bags weighing more than five kg," reported ANI.

Getting inspired by the Telangana government's initiative, we hope other states would also follow suit and give young children some relief from such a burden.
