Teen Boy Allegedly Assaulted in Delhi Metro, Police Investigate

In a concerning event reported from the national capital, a 16-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Delhi Metro, sparking an investigation by the city police. The incident, which took place on Friday night at the bustling Rajiv Chowk metro station, has raised serious questions about safety in public transportation.

Teen Assaulted in Delhi Metro

The teenager, seeking support and wanting to share his distressing experience, turned to the social networking platform X. Through a series of posts, he detailed the harrowing ordeal he faced while travelling alone. "I just got assaulted in Delhi Metro right now at Rajiv Chowk station. I am a 16-year-old boy and I was travelling alone in the metro," he shared.

According to the victim's account, he boarded a train heading towards Samaypur Badli from Rajiv Chowk station between 8:30-9:30 pm. It was during this journey that he encountered his alleged assailant. The boy described a chilling encounter where the man attempted to touch his private parts. Initially dismissing the contact as accidental, he soon realized the gravity of the situation. "I felt something on my bottom as soon as I entered the train but I brushed it off thinking it's someone's bag or someone mistouched me but I was wrong… I was terrified," he recounted.

The Delhi Police have acknowledged the incident and are currently making efforts to reach out to the teenager to further investigate the matter. The boy narrated that after escaping from the metro, a guard escorted him to another train, but the man pursued him relentlessly. "As soon as I reached my station Kashmere Gate, I got out and tried to go the opposite way trying to trick him, and it worked for a while but eventually, I had to go to the yellow line and he caught me on my way," he explained.

In a desperate bid for safety and evidence, the teenager managed to confront his assailant. "I had enough and I grabbed his hair and clicked a picture of him. I was scared and shaking but I did it anyways. After that, I waited there for a while and he tried to argue but nothing happened," he said, sharing a picture of the man believed to be the perpetrator.

This alarming incident has once again highlighted the need for enhanced security measures within public transportation systems to ensure passengers' safety, especially minors. The Delhi Police's response and subsequent actions will be closely monitored as they work to address this serious issue.
