Team leaves for Kerala after 150 children from Jharkhand rescued

Ranchi
Ranchi, May 30: A team from here today left for Kerala after the authorities there informed the Jharkhand government about the rescue of more than 150 children, belonging to the state, from the clutches of traffickers.

"The team has left for Kerala after getting information about the rescue of the children. It has been asked to look into how and why a large number of children, some of them along with their parents, reached Kerala," Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty told reporters here.

According to the authorities in Kerala, a total of 580 under-aged children from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal were brought here by trains in two batches on Saturday and Sunday.

As there were no proper documents, the Railway police detained the children and arrested eight persons. The arrested persons said the children were meant to be brought to two orphanages in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts in Kerala.
