Supriya Sule Calls for ED Investigation into Walmik Karad's Bank Accounts Amid Extortion Case

Supriya Sule, a Nationalist Congress Party MP, has raised questions about the lack of discussion regarding funds seized from the bank accounts of Walmik Karad. Karad, an associate of Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde, is accused in an extortion case. Sule expressed gratitude to the BJP-led Mahayuti government for applying the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against Karad, who is linked to a murder case in Beed district.

Sule Seeks ED Probe into Karads Accounts

The Lok Sabha MP from Baramati questioned why the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has not been involved in this case. "Nobody is talking about amount seized from Karad's accounts. Why the ED Enforcement Directorate is not involved in the case? We are thankful to the government for slapping the MCOCA on him," she stated. Sule also demanded that Munde resign from his ministerial position following his associate's arrest.

Property Tax Issues and Allegations

On Wednesday, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Karad for failing to pay over Rs 1 lakh in property tax for a flat he allegedly owns. The tax department placed the notice on the door of the flat located in Pimpri-Chinchwad town, Pune district. The notice warned of further action if dues remain unpaid.

The civic body's notice specified that the property at Park Street, Aundh Road, belongs to Walmik Baburao Karad and his wife Manjili Walmikrao Karad. It mentioned an outstanding property tax amounting to Rs 1.08 lakh against the flat.

Additional Allegations by BJP MLA

In a related development, BJP MLA Suresh Dhas alleged that Karad owns five flats and seven shops in Pune. These allegations add another layer of complexity to the ongoing legal issues surrounding Karad.

Sule has called for stringent action against those involved in the extortion case linked to Santosh Deshmukh's murder. She believes that those responsible should face severe penalties, including capital punishment.

The situation continues to unfold as authorities investigate further into Karad's financial dealings and property ownership. The involvement of high-profile political figures adds significant public interest and scrutiny to this case.
