Supreme Court refuses to hear PIL against paid news
New Delhi, July 30: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by BJP leader against paid news.
A bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi, R Banumathi and Navin Sinha was hearing a PIL filed by BJP leader and Supreme Court advocate Ashwini Upadhyay.

The apex court suggested the petitioner take the appeal to the appropriate forum.
The apex court, said, "You please go to the appropriate forum for this."
Paid news is a phenomenon in Indian media, that refers to the systematic engagement of mainstream media outlets in publishing favorable articles in exchange for payment.
