During the Sahibzaadon Ko Naman programme, Amit Shah honoured the sacrifices of Sikh Gurus, particularly Guru Tegh Bahadur and the Sahibzadas, highlighting their significance for humanity and faith.

Shah paid homage to the Sahibzadas, acknowledging their bravery and sacrifice at a young age. The event featured an exhibition on their lives, a sand art display, and a coffee table book release. He noted that Guru Tegh Bahadur's sacrifice was crucial for preserving Hinduism and Sikhism, describing it as unparalleled in history.

Sikh Gurus' Legacy and Contributions

During his speech, Shah discussed the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh's sons. The Modi government declared December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas in 2022 to honour their martyrdom. For three years, schools have taught about the Sahibzadas' lives and held essay competitions. Shah mentioned that all states observe this day regardless of political leadership.

Shah expressed gratitude for significant anniversaries during Modi's tenure: Guru Nanak Dev's 550th birth anniversary, Guru Tegh Bahadur's 350th martyrdom anniversary, and Guru Gobind Singh's 350th birth anniversary. He reiterated that the government has worked tirelessly to highlight Sikh traditions globally.

Government Initiatives for Sikh Community

The Union home minister outlined several initiatives for the Sikh community. These include granting FCRA registration to Amritsar's Golden Temple, opening the Kartarpur corridor, reopening 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases for justice, providing Rs 5 lakh compensation, and granting citizenship to Sikhs from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Shah expressed regret over Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara remaining in Pakistan post-Partition in 1947. He questioned why it was left there during discussions on India's and Pakistan's borders. He speculated that those deciding were unaware of its significance.

Honouring Sikh Gurus' Sacrifices

Shah elaborated on the ten Sikh Gurus' teachings and sacrifices for humanity and religion. He asserted that no one worldwide can match their sacrifices for humanity and India. Discussing the Sahibzadas, he praised their refusal to bow to injustice or convert despite extreme cruelty.

Their sacrifice symbolises unwavering faith and courage. Shah also honoured Mata Gujri, grandmother of the Sahibzadas, for instilling discipline and values in them. He highlighted Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh's supreme sacrifice at ages nine and seven as a testament to India's moral strength.

Encouraging Future Generations

Shah urged Indians to share the Sahibzadas' story with their families, especially children. He believes future generations will be ready to defend India during crises. Veer Bal Diwas is not just a remembrance day but an opportunity for nation-building by teaching courage and devotion to faith.

He described Guru Tegh Bahadur as a universal symbol of supreme sacrifice. His courage against injustice inspires every Indian. When Kashmiri Pandits sought his help, he challenged Mughal tyranny and sacrificed everything for faith.

Recognition of Sacrifices

At the event, Shah released a coffee table book on the Sahibzadas' sacrifices and Haryana's Vision Document 2047. He also distributed appointment letters to families affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Shah commended Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for providing justice and employment to affected Sikh families.

The Union home minister acknowledged the Sikh community's role in defending India and serving humanity during crises. Shah and Saini visited an exhibition dedicated to the Sahibzadas' sacrifices.
