Sensex opens at all-time high, trades above 37,400 points
New Delhi, July 30: The benchmark BSE Sensex on Monday opened at an all-time high of 37,491 points while Nifty20 traded above the 11,300 mark. At 9.40 AM, Sensex was at 37,413.15 points, up by 76.30 or 0.20 per cent and Nifty was at 11,302.10 points, up by 23.75 or 0.21 per cent.
The top gainers in the 30-share Sensex pack were State Bank of India (up 3.38 per cent), ONGC (up 2.88 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 2.68 per cent), Vedanta (up 2.37 per cent), and Reliance Industries (up 1.16 per cent).
Asian share markets drifted lower while currencies kept to familiar ranges ahead of a busy week peppered with central bank meetings, corporate results and updates on US inflation and payrolls.
On a weekly basis, the BSE Sensex gained 840 points, or 2.3 per cent, while the 50-share pack surged 268 points, or 2.4 per cent. Going ahead, it's going to be a policy week as many major central banks are going to declare their monetary policy.
