Security lapse at Juhu Aerodrome, hole found in boundary wall
Juhu Aerodrome in Mumbai suburbs is used by small General Aviation aircraft and helicopters
A hole in the boundary wall of Mumbai's Juhu Aerodrome has turned into a security nightmare for authorities. A hole, big enough to let a human being pass was found on the boundary wall of the air strip run by Pawan Hans on Friday.
The air strip is a high-security area marked sensitive and the lapse in security is currently being looked at as an incident of mischief, according to reports. The hole was spotted by security personnel who were patrolling along the boundary walls. The hole was found in the north-end of the property adjoining the Nehru Nagar slums.
An FIR was registered by the Juhu police in this regard and according to the FIR, the hole is close to Anna chawl along the boundary wall. A case under IPC sections 447 (criminal trespass), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 34 (common intention) have been taken up against unidentified persons.
The security lapse has sent not just the airport security staff but also the Anti-terror cell and the Crime Branch units of the Mumbai police. While multiple agencies are monitoring the situation, reports suggested that the incident is being looked at as 'mischief.'
