Section 144 In Noida: What's Open? What's Closed?
In view of Ganesh Chaturthi 2023, the MotoGP Bharat event, and the UP International Trade Show, authorities have enforced Section 144 in Noida and Greater Noida from September 16 to September 25. This measure entails strict regulations aimed at maintaining public order and safety during these events.
Hridesh Katheria, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), explained, "Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 19. Besides this, the International Trade Show at Expo Mart will take place from September 21 to 25, and MotoGP Bharat at Buddha International Circuit, Greater Noida, will take place from September 22 to 24."

During the imposition of Section 144 in Noida and Greater Noida, certain activities and gatherings are restricted or closed, while others remain open with appropriate permissions. Here's a summary of what's closed and what's open:
Closed Activities:
- Unlawful Assemblies: Gatherings of five or more people are prohibited.
- Group Formation: The formation of groups comprising five or more individuals in public places is not allowed.
- Processions: Participation in processions without prior permission from the authorities (Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, or Deputy Commissioner of Police) is banned.
- Drone Usage: The use of drones within a one-kilometer radius of government offices is strictly prohibited.
- Photography and Videography: Capturing images or videos near restricted areas requires permission from the Commissioner of Police and the Additional Commissioner of Police.
Open Activities (with Permissions):
- Events and Celebrations: Ganesh Chaturthi, the MotoGP Bharat event, and the UP International Trade Show are allowed to proceed with proper authorization.
- Competitive Examinations: Competitive examinations scheduled during this period can take place, subject to adherence to necessary safety protocols.
- 'Rail Roko' Campaign: Farmers conducting a 'Rail Roko' campaign are permitted to do so as long as it aligns with the requirements and permissions granted by the government.
It should be noted that these rules may be relaxed on specific event requirements and government permissions. The imposition of Section 144 aims to ensure the smooth and secure execution of these activities while preserving public safety and order.
