School Holidays: Authorities Order To Shut Govt, Private Schools Up To Class 8 Till January 18; Read Details
All schools up to class 8 will remain closed until January 18 due to severe cold weather, announced authorities in Ghaziabad. This decision affects private, government, Anganwadi, and pre-schools. Parents and teachers are encouraged to stay in touch with school officials for the latest updates.
The District Basic Education Officer of Ghaziabad stated that schools affiliated with various boards, including UP Board, CBSE, and ICSE, must comply with this closure order. While students will not attend classes, school staff are required to be present and continue their departmental duties.

GRAP 3 Restrictions Lifted in Delhi-NCR
Meanwhile, in Delhi-NCR, the Centre's panel on air quality has lifted Stage-III restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This change follows a decrease in pollution levels due to favourable weather conditions. Schools can now decide whether to continue hybrid classes or return fully to physical attendance.
Previously under GRAP 3, parents and students could choose between attending physical classes or opting for online education. The lifting of these restrictions allows more flexibility for educational institutions in the region.
Impact of Weather Disturbances
Delhi's air quality saw improvement after light rain caused by a Western Disturbance. These disturbances originate from the Mediterranean and bring winter rain and snow to northwest India. Another such disturbance is expected around January 14–15.
The reintroduction of GRAP Stage 3 on Thursday included a ban on non-essential construction activities. It also restricted the use of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars in Delhi and nearby NCR districts. However, persons with disabilities are exempt from these vehicle restrictions.
