Scary! Driverless Goods Train Crosses 5 Stations At 100 kmph Speed, Video Goes Viral

A shocking and scarring incident of major carelessness by the Indian Railways Staff was reported from Punjab on Sunday that could have turned into a major accident. According to the reports, a speeding goods train ran on the tracks driverless for about 70 kilometers and crossed about five stations, triggering a scare among the people.

The reports said the driver of the goods train forgot to pull the hand break before getting off the train at Pathankot station, due to sloppy tracks trains started moving slowly and then picked up the speed and passed by five stations before it was stopped at Uchi Bassi Station.

"The driverless train was stopped by placing wood blocks on the tracks," a Railway official told the media, adding "No casualty was reported in the incident." However, the 53-wagon train was on its way to Punjab from Jammu.

The video of the driverless train is doing round the internet showing it passed through the stations at a very high speed. Soon after the incident came to light, Railway officials ordered an inquiry against the driver, and to avoid any such incident and safety lapses in the future. "The exact reason for the incident is yet to be ascertained," the official further added.

Earlier in 2023, a major train accident took place in Odisha where more than 261 people lost their lives and over 1000 were injured when two trains collided. According to the reports, at that time, a passenger train was derailed onto the adjacent track and was struck by an incoming train. The speeding train had also hit a stationary freight train.
