Saviours turn providers; IAF donates Rs 8.3 crore to Uttarakhand flood

IAF donates Rs 8.3 cr to Uttarakhand
Dehradun, Oct 9: 23,000 people were saved by these very hands during the Uttarakhand flood relief operations.

Now, these very people are serving the survivors with a huge contribution of Rs 8.3 crores toward the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has been appreciated for its selfless service during the rescue operations of flood victims, but they have not stopped there. As true and responsible citizens of the country, they have taken the onus of rehabilitating the destitute too.

It is said that the amount has been collected by the donation of a day's salary by the 1.7 lakh officers and the others working across the country. The cheque was handed over to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Air Force Day reception hosted by the IAF chief at his residence. The cheque was presented by the Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne.

The Air Force's contribution during the Uttarakhand floods was exemplary. Right from rescue operations to providing counselling and rehabilitation, the entire team made India proud with its self-sacrificing service.
