Will Fight Till Justice Is Served: Sakshi Malik Denies Reports Of Withdrawing From Wrestlers Protest

Sakshi Malik on Monday rejected reports that claimed she has withdrawn from the wrestlers' protest two days after meeting Home Minister Amit Shah.

Indian wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia have decided to resume their duties in Indian Railways after sitting in a month-long protest against WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by seven female wrestlers, including a minor.

"In the fight for justice, none of us has backed down, nor will we. Along with Satyagraha, I am fulfilling my responsibility in Railways. Our fight continues till justice is served. Please don't spread any wrong news," Sakshi Malik tweeted in Hindi.

"We met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, it was a normal conversation, we have only one demand and that is to arrest him (Brij Bhushan Singh). I have not stepped back from the protest, I have resumed my work as OSD in Railways. I want to clarify that we will keep protesting until we get justice. We will not step back. She (minor girl) has not taken back any FIR, all this is fake", Sakshi Malik told news agency ANI.

Even Bajrang Punia also termed reports of withdrawing the FIR as completely false.

"The news of withdrawing the movement is just a rumour. These news are being spread to harm us. We have neither retreated nor have we withdrawn the movement. The news of women wrestlers raising FIR is also false. The fight will continue till justice is served," tweeted Punia.

Satyawrat Kadian, the husband of ace grappler Sakshi Malik also confirmed that wrestlers have not stepped back from protest.

"Neither we have compromised, nor we will step back. All this is fake, we will not take back this protest. We will stay united and keep protesting for justice. Fake news is being spread to weaken us... The entire nation is against Delhi Police," he said.

Notably, a meeting was held late on Saturday between Home Minister Amit Shah and protesting wrestlers at the former's residence in Delhi. The wrestlers have pressed for Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan's arrest.

The meeting comes days after the protesting wrestlers went to Haridwar to immerse their medals in the Ganga, but were stopped by farmers' leaders. They have set an ultimatum to the government demanding the arrest of BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh's arrest before June 9.
