RR Patil's Son Defends Ajit Pawar Amid Allegations of Inquiry in Maharashtra Politics

Ajit Pawar, a senior NCP leader, recently claimed he was "backstabbed" by his former colleague RR Patil. This accusation relates to an inquiry into a multi-crore irrigation scam. Pawar stated that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis showed him a file with Patil's remarks ordering the investigation after Fadnavis became chief minister in 2014.

Rohit Patil Supports Ajit Pawars Position

Rohit Patil, son of the late RR Patil, responded to these allegations on Wednesday. He suggested that his father might have initiated the inquiry to clarify matters, using the phrase "doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani." Rohit refrained from criticising Ajit Pawar, acknowledging their past collaboration.

Allegations and Political Dynamics

The irrigation scam involved alleged irregularities amounting to Rs 70,000 crore. Ajit Pawar was the water resources development minister at that time. Despite these serious allegations, Rohit Patil expressed gratitude towards Pawar for his role in bringing development projects worth Rs 800 crore during the MVA government.

Rohit emphasised that his father had publicly questioned the possibility of such a large-scale scam. He noted that the irrigation department did not have expenses matching the alleged amount. He also mentioned it was inappropriate to discuss these allegations when his father is no longer alive.

Political Reactions and Statements

Supriya Sule, an NCP MP and senior party member, criticised Ajit Pawar's remarks as "insensitive." She apologised to RR Patil's family on behalf of the party. Sule also targeted BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis for initially making these allegations against Ajit Pawar.

Ajit Pawar's comments came during a rally supporting NCP candidate Sanjay Kaka Patil. Sanjay is contesting against Rohit Patil in Tasgaon, Sangli district for the upcoming assembly elections on November 20. The political rivalry adds another layer to this complex situation.

Rohit Patil reiterated his respect for Ajit Pawar, stating he would not speak against him. He highlighted their shared history and Pawar's contributions to development projects in Maharashtra. This stance reflects Rohit's desire to maintain political decorum amidst ongoing controversies.
