Rohtak rape-cum-murder shook even the doctor who conducted post-mortem
Rohtak, Feb 11: The Rohtak gangrape and murder case of a 28-year old mentally challenged woman is often compared to the Nirbhaya rape case, if not a degree more. But the very fact that even the doctor who conducted the post-mortem of the body was shocked, describes the heinousness of the crime. The Haryana police claims that it has cracked the case and has arrested the eight culprits, while the ninth one committed suicide. The doctor said that it was the most brutal case in his entire career.
DGP Yashpal Singhal said that he had visited the crime spot and said that the arrested were in their 20s and seemed to be criminals. One of them included a Nepali, identified as Santosh. All the youths were arrested from Gaddikhera village, some 9 kms from Rohtak. The rest of the accused have been identified as Rajesh alias Ghuchadu, Sunil alias Sheela, Sarvar alias Billu, Manbir, Sunil alias Madha, Pawan, Parmod alias Padam.

The ninth accused Sheelkaraam committed suicide by consuming poisonous tablets at Bavana in the NCR region. Singhal said,"the police were looking for the ninth accused. The rest of the accused have confessed to their involvement in the crime."
Speaking of allegations that the police was apathetic to the entire case, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said,"Though it took police nine days to round up the accused, yet it was a major achievement as it was a blind case. The police acted promptly into the incident."
"All efforts were being made to arrest the remaining accused and there is no laxity on part of the police to solve this case," he added. Meanwhile, Haryana Agriculture Minister Om Parkash Dhankhar, who visited the family announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 Lakh to the family of the victim.
