R K Nagar bypoll likely to be countermanded
Will the R K Nagar by-poll be countermanded? With Income Tax raids being conducted in Tamil Nadu following complaints of corruption in the by-elections, there is a possibility that the elections may be countermanded. An official announcement is however yet to be made in this regard.

The ECI is likely to seek a report from the Income Tax officials about the raid and other details connected to it. The ECI would analyse the details and then take a final call on whether to countermand the elections or not.
Several complaints have emerged following the announcement of the poll date at R K Nagar which is to be held on April 12. Videos of money being distributed have surfaced which led to complaints to the IT department and the ECI. Polls in R K Nagar became necessary following the death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister, J Jayalalithaa.
