CCTV Footage Tracks Umar Near Mosque
CCTV dated 10 November shows Umar walking near the Faiz e Ilahi Mosque in the Turkman Gate area. He walks past the camera, briefly turns his head to the right, and his face is captured clearly before he continues ahead. Investigators believe he stopped at the mosque before the explosion.
Umar Mohammad, also known as Umar Un Nabi, is suspected of carrying out the attack after spending hours around the Red Fort vicinity.
Hours Spent in Red Fort Parking Lot
A powerful explosion struck the city at 6:52 pm when Umar's slow moving Hyundai i20 blew up near the Red Fort. The blast caused widespread damage, leaving mangled vehicles and bodies scattered across the area.
CCTV clips examined by investigators show that Umar had parked at the Sunehri Masjid parking lot close to the Red Fort for more than three hours. He entered the lot at 3:19 pm and exited at 6:28 pm. During this entire period, he neither left the vehicle nor stepped away from it, raising questions about his preparation and planning.
Route Mapped Across Delhi and Haryana
Sources say Umar moved across several locations in Delhi before the explosion. Investigators have pieced together dozens of CCTV sightings to reconstruct his route on the day of the blast.
After leaving Faridabad following the arrests of his associates Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Adeel Rather, he travelled to Firozpur Jhirka through Mewat in Haryana. He then took the Delhi Mumbai Expressway, spent the night at a dhaba, and slept inside the car. The next morning, 10 November, he returned to the capital.
Cameras at the Badarpur toll recorded him crossing at 8:13 am on Monday.
Final Movements Before the Explosion
Once back in Delhi, Umar was first seen in the East district, then on Ring Road in the Central district, and later in the North district. He made a stop at Ashok Vihar in the North West district, reportedly to eat. Sources believe he then visited another mosque in the Central district before heading back toward the Red Fort.
He reached the Red Fort parking area in the North district at 3:19 pm. The explosion later took place at 6:52 pm near gate number 1 of the Red Fort metro station.
