Another 'Mulayam' speaks out: Rape happens by mistake, says Chhattisgarh Home Minister

Rape
Raipur, June 8: Another minister invited trouble with his shocking comment on rape while the country has been criticising increasing crime against women in India, especially in Uttar Pradesh. Repeating the infamous statement of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, Chhattisgarh Home Minster Ramsevak Paikra said that rape happens by mistake.

Commenting on Badaun gangrape case, in which two sisters were raped and were hanged from a tree in UP, Paikra said, "nobody commits rape on purpose" but it is committed by "deceit".

The minister also claimed that Chhattisgarh state government, however, was concerned about the issue and had asked police to take prompt action whenever a rape complaint is filed.

Recently, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur too irked many with his statement on rape. 64-year-old Gaur was quoted as saying, "No culprit is going to inform us and then commit rape."

"If that was the case we could have caught them easily. It is sometimes right and sometimes wrong. Till the time rape is not reported we cannot act on it. So what would Akhilesh and Mulayam do to prevent it," Gaur added.

Earlier Mulayam Singh had stated, "Should rape cases be punished with hanging? They are boys, they make mistakes."
