Ramayana In One Word? This Jharkhand Man Did It—Here’s How

As the country celebrated Ram Navami on Sunday, a remarkable story came from Palamu district in Jharkhand. A 40-year-old Ayurvedic doctor named Shiv Kumar Pandey has created something truly unique - he has written the entire Ramayana in just one word, according to a Network 18 report.

Pandey, who lives in the Redma area of Palamu, is also a writer. His work, called Ek Shabdiya Ramayana (One-Word Ramayana), is being called the world's longest word. It is made using 3,046 letters from Sanskrit and Hindi, and it follows a complex grammatical system called sandhi, which joins words and sounds together. The word takes up 10 full pages.

This single word tells the complete life story of Lord Rama - from his birth in Ayodhya to his return and coronation. Creating it took Pandey nearly one year.

"I wanted to bring people closer to our epics in a new way," Pandey told Local18. He believes that when heritage is presented creatively, it connects better with the public. His work has already been entered into the India Book of Records. He now hopes it will also be recognised by the Guinness World Records.

Pandey explains that the word is not just a random mix of syllables. It follows the strict grammar rules of both Sanskrit and Hindi. However, reading and understanding it is not easy. According to Pandey, it may take nearly eight hours for someone fluent in the languages to fully read and understand it. One must break it down carefully using a process called sandhi-vichhed, which separates the parts of the word.

Although Pandey works as an Ayurvedic doctor, writing is his passion. He has been writing for over 15 years and has worked in 15 different styles of literature. But this one-word Ramayana has received the most attention so far.

Pandey now hopes to publish his work through Geeta Press, a well-known publisher of Hindu religious books. "This is not just about setting a record," he said. "It's about making people, especially the youth, feel curious and respectful towards the Ramayana in a new and exciting way."
