Indian Railways plan to cut energy bills by Rs 5,000 crore: Suresh Prabhu
New Delhi, Nov 6: The government will formulate an efficient plan to reduce the railways' energy bill by Rs.5,000 crore in the next five years, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said on Friday.
The minister said energy bill is the second biggest in the sector after salary and pension.

"We need to make a road map for it so that railways could reduce the energy bill by Rs.5,000 crore in the next five years," he said, adding, "We need to work out a comprehensive energy efficiency plan."
Prabhu was speaking at the global meet on "Energy Efficient Technologies in Railways".
The minister said energy efficiency is very important and it should be a focus area in India.
