In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi secured the Rae Bareli seat with a margin of over 3.90 lakh votes. Following his victory, he held a meeting with party workers alongside general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Last month, Rahul Gandhi resigned from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala, choosing to retain the Rae Bareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is set to make her electoral debut by contesting the Wayanad bypoll. With Rahul Gandhi's resignation from one of the two seats he won, the Congress' tally in the Lower House now stands at 98.

On Monday, Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, also visited relief camps in Manipur's Jiribam and Churachandpur districts, interacting with the displaced individuals. The camps house people affected by ethnic violence in the northeastern state, which has claimed over 200 lives since May last year.
Accompanied by senior Congress leaders, Gandhi's visit to Manipur marked his first since the Congress won both Lok Sabha seats in the state. He initially visited Manipur weeks after ethnic violence erupted on May 3 last year. In January 2024, he launched his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' from the state. The Rae Bareli MP also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the violence-affected state to offer solace, emphasizing his party's support for any government efforts to restore peace.
