Raebareli Lynching Victim's Family Meets Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Seeking Justice

The family of Hariom Valmiki, a lynching victim in Raebareli, met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to express gratitude for government support and assurance of justice. Twelve arrests have been made in the case.

The family of Hariom Valmiki, who was fatally attacked by a mob in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Valmiki, a Dalit from Fatehpur district, was mistakenly identified as a thief and beaten to death on October 2. Authorities have arrested 12 individuals in connection with the incident.

An official statement revealed that Sangeeta Valmiki, Hariom's wife, along with her father Chhote Lal and daughter Ananya, met CM Adityanath. They were joined by Manoj Pandey, the MLA from Unchahar. The chief minister extended his condolences to the grieving family.

Government Support and Assurance

Chief Minister Adityanath assured the family of comprehensive support. "The family will receive housing under the Chief Minister's Housing Scheme," he stated. Sangeeta Valmiki will also secure a permanent job, and the family will benefit from all government welfare schemes.

Adityanath emphasised that the accused were apprehended within 24 hours of the crime. He reiterated that ensuring the safety and dignity of Dalits and other marginalised groups is a top priority for the state government. The administration is committed to pursuing the case rigorously in court to ensure severe penalties for those responsible.

Political Reactions and Actions

Earlier, Rakesh Sachan, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Khadi, Handloom and Textiles, along with Asim Arun, Minister of State Independent Charge for Social Welfare, visited the bereaved family. They promised justice and strict measures against those involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, the Congress party alleged that their state president was blocked from visiting Valmiki's family. According to a party statement, Ajay Rai was en route to offer condolences and financial aid but was stopped by authorities.

Congress Party's Response

After being halted by police, Ajay Rai staged a sit-in protest on the road. He was accompanied by several leaders, including former minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Sitapur MP Rakesh Rathore. The police later transported all leaders and supporters present with Rai to the police line by bus.

The Congress claimed they have supported Valmiki's family since day one. Party members were present at the hospital when Valmiki was taken there and remained until his post-mortem was completed.

Sangeeta Valmiki expressed gratitude towards CM Adityanath after their meeting. "Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has supported us at every level. I am grateful to him. Baba is the only one who can protect Dalits. We are completely satisfied with the government's action and are confident that justice will be served," she said.
