Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Criticises PM Modi's Foreign Visits Amid Domestic Concerns
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritising foreign visits over domestic issues. Mann questioned Modi's focus on international recognition from countries with small populations while neglecting the concerns of India's 140 crore citizens.

Mann sarcastically asked if Modi had returned from Ghana, suggesting he was more interested in foreign accolades than addressing local problems. He remarked on Modi receiving a significant award in a country with only 10,000 people, highlighting the contrast with domestic gatherings.
Criticism of Foreign Visits
Mann humorously compared the excitement around a JCB machine in India to Modi's foreign engagements. "JCB chal rahi hai, JCB oye," he said, pointing out how such machines attract large crowds locally. He also noted that Modi hasn't held a press conference in 11 years, implying a lack of transparency.
Following a cabinet meeting, Mann addressed the media to express his views. His comments drew a response from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), which disapproved of his remarks about Modi's trips abroad.
MEA's Response
The MEA described Mann's statements as irresponsible and distanced itself from them. Without directly naming Mann, it stated that such comments could harm India's relationships with friendly nations.
Meanwhile, PM Modi returned to India after visiting five countries: Brazil, Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and Namibia. The MEA emphasised the importance of these diplomatic visits for strengthening international ties.
Mann's remarks have sparked discussions about the balance between international diplomacy and addressing domestic issues. While some support his criticism, others believe foreign relations are crucial for India's global standing.
