Pune: Death sentence for killer bus driver

Pune, Sept 9:The bus driver who hijacked a public bus 2 years ago and killed 9 people has been given the death sentence by the Bombay High Court.

37-year old Santosh M Mane sped through the streets of Pune in 2012, hitting innocent pedestrians and running over 9 people during the rush traffic hour. Close to 40 people were injured in the 10 kilometer drive.

He appealed to the Bombay High Court after he was given the death sentence, but lost his case today.

Mane worked for a public transport company in Pune, from whebure he stole the bus when he was not on duty. His lawyer, however, argued that he had committed the murders in a "fit of insanity".
