Adityanath praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for its significant contribution to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He remarked that during the RSS's 100-year journey, many challenges were overcome. Despite opposition from political parties like the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, RSS volunteers remained committed to their goal.
Political Islam and Historical Narratives
The chief minister claimed that political Islam has been a major ideological challenge, yet it is not widely discussed. He emphasised that ancestors fought against not only European colonial powers but also this ideological force. He stated, "There is talk of British colonialism, there is talk of French colonialism, but nowhere is there talk of political Islam, which undermined the faith."
Adityanath also addressed ongoing activities promoting political Islam under different guises. He informed attendees that Uttar Pradesh has prohibited the sale of Halal-certified products, alleging that profits from these sales were funding conversion activities, love jihad, and terrorism.
RSS Centenary Initiatives
During his speech, Adityanath outlined five key transformations as part of the RSS centenary initiatives: social harmony, family values, environmental protection, self-reliance through indigenous goods, and civic responsibility. He described these as essential for building a developed India.
The chief minister stressed that for a society and nation to develop, societal leadership is crucial while the government should play a supportive role. He said, "For a developed society and a developed nation, society must lead, and the government must follow."
Adityanath lauded historical figures like Guru Gobind Singh and Maharana Sanga for their battles against political Islam. He reiterated that these struggles are often ignored in historical accounts despite their importance.
He concluded by acknowledging the sacrifices made by RSS volunteers who faced restrictions and violence during their efforts to build the Ram Temple. "Today, the magnificent Ram Temple stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment," he stated.
