A police officer faced suspension after a video circulated online, allegedly showing him mixing ash into food at a community feast during the Maha Kumbh Mela. The incident involved the Station House Officer (SHO) of Soraon, Brijesh Kumar Tiwari. The video, which surfaced on social media, prompted action from authorities.

Officer Suspended for Mixing Ash in Food

The footage depicts a police officer adding ash to food being cooked over a stove. A user shared this video on the social media platform X, tagging DCP Ganga Nagar's account and demanding strict measures against the officer for this act. In response, the official account of DCP Ganga Nagar stated: "Taking cognizance of the matter, the Deputy Commissioner of Police Ganga Nagar has suspended the Soraon SHO based on a report from ACP Soraon. Departmental proceedings are underway."

Community Kitchens at Maha Kumbh

During the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, millions of pilgrims have gathered. To support them, various individuals and organizations have established community kitchens. These kitchens aim to provide free or affordable meals to the visiting devotees, ensuring they have access to food and water.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav also shared the video on social media. He urged people to pay attention to this incident. "It is unfortunate that the good efforts of those who are making arrangements to provide food and water to those stranded at the Maha Kumbh are being scuttled due to political animosity. The public should take notice!" said the former UP Chief Minister.

DCP Ganga Nagar Kuldeep Singh Gunawat confirmed that action was taken against Brijesh Kumar Tiwari after the video emerged online. The suspension followed a report from ACP Soraon, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

The Maha Kumbh Mela has attracted numerous pilgrims, leading to increased efforts by groups to cater to their needs. However, incidents like these can overshadow such positive initiatives. Authorities continue to investigate and address any misconduct during this significant event.
