Confession and Motive

During interrogation, Ansari revealed that he had borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh from Jitan Sahni against a piece of land he owned. Unable to repay the loan, Ansari sought to retrieve the land documents. On the night between Monday and Tuesday, Ansari and his associates entered Jitan Sahni’s house to demand the documents. When Sahni refused, Ansari began stabbing him with assistance from his associates.

A case has been registered against Ansari and his accomplices. Police are actively searching for the other suspects involved in the crime. The incident has caused significant unrest in Bihar, with opposition parties criticising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's administration over the state's law and order situation.

Details of the Incident

Jitan Sahni, aged 70, was discovered stabbed to death at his residence in Darbhanga district on Tuesday. The brutal nature of the crime has shocked many across Bihar. In response to the incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed by district police to thoroughly investigate the case.

The accused, Qazim Ansari, is a 40-year-old resident of Supaul Bazar locality, which is also where Mukesh Sahni’s ancestral home is situated. His confession has provided crucial details about the motive and execution of the crime.

The police statement detailed how Ansari and his associates demanded land documents from Jitan Sahni. When their demands were not met, they resorted to violence. This act of brutality has highlighted concerns over personal security and law enforcement effectiveness in Bihar.

The arrest and confession of Qazim Ansari mark a significant development in this high-profile case. However, efforts continue to apprehend all individuals involved in this heinous act.

The murder of Jitan Sahni has not only brought grief to his family but also raised questions about safety and justice in Bihar. The ongoing investigation by the SIT aims to bring all perpetrators to justice and restore some sense of security among residents.
