PM Modi Holds Key Talks With Marco Rubio, Receives White House Invitation From Trump

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an important meeting with Marco Rubio on Saturday, focusing on security, trade and strengthening strategic ties between India and the United States.

During the meeting, Rubio also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit the White House on behalf of US President Donald Trump.

US envoy Sergio Gor, who accompanied Rubio during the meeting, said the Indo-Pacific region was one of the main topics of discussion.

The United States has increasingly viewed India as an important strategic partner in maintaining balance and stability in the Indo-Pacific, especially amid China's growing influence in the region.

In a post on X, Gor said the discussions focused on deepening cooperation in security, trade and critical technologies to support a "free and open Indo-Pacific."

PM Modi Shares Details Of Meeting

After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi also shared details of the interaction on social media. In his message, Modi said he was happy to receive Marco Rubio and described the talks as productive and important for strengthening bilateral relations.

He added that India and the United States would continue working closely on issues connected to global peace, security and international cooperation.

The meeting took place at a sensitive international moment amid reports of rising tensions involving Iran and the United States.

India, however, strongly rejected those claims and maintained that the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan was achieved directly through bilateral communication without US involvement.
