PM Modi Congratulates President Trump on His Election Victory and Future Cooperation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on his election victory. Modi expressed eagerness to collaborate with Trump to enhance India-US ties in technology, defence, energy, and space. Official sources noted that Modi also praised the Republican Party's performance in the Congressional elections. Both leaders agreed to work towards global peace.

Strengthening India-US Relations
The conversation between Modi and Trump highlighted their warm rapport. Trump praised Modi, calling him a "magnificent man" and described India as a "magnificent country." He also referred to Modi as a true friend, emphasising that Modi was among the first world leaders he contacted post-victory.
In a post on X, Modi shared, "Had a great conversation with my friend, President Donald Trump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors."
Earlier in the day, Modi congratulated Trump on his historic win and expressed hope for renewed collaboration to bolster the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. He stated, "Together, let's work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity."
Past Interactions and Events
Modi shared images from previous meetings with Trump, who served as US president from 2016 to 2020. Last month, during the Flagrant podcast, Trump described Modi as "the nicest human being" and a personal friend. He remarked on India's political stability under Modi's leadership.
Trump recalled Modi's 2019 visit to Houston for the Howdy Modi event. He described it as a memorable occasion with around 80,000 attendees. The event showcased their strong relationship. Trump's subsequent visit to India in 2020 included the Namaste Trump rally in Ahmedabad. Approximately 100,000 people attended this event at a cricket stadium.
Modi and Trump had previously met in Washington DC in 2017. Their interactions have consistently reflected mutual respect and shared goals for strengthening bilateral ties.
