Renowned cardiologist Dr Mani Chhetri, a recipient of the Padma Shri, has passed away at the age of 106. His death marks the end of an extraordinary life dedicated to medicine and patient care, spanning several decades.

Dr Chhetri passed away late on Sunday night at his residence. According to family members, he had suffered a head injury after a fall nearly two weeks ago. Although he initially showed signs of recovery after being discharged from the hospital, his health gradually declined in the following days.

In recent years, he had also been dealing with dementia, which had limited his ability to continue medical practice.

Early Life and Education

Born on May 23, 1920, in Darjeeling, Dr Chhetri began his journey in medicine at a young age. He completed his MBBS in 1944 and later went abroad to pursue higher studies, gaining advanced knowledge and experience in the field of cardiology.

After completing his education, he returned to India to serve patients and contribute to the country's healthcare system.
