Opposition demands Smriti's apology over Rajya Sabha remark
New Delhi, Feb 26: The opposition parties on Friday said Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani must apologize for her remark in the Rajya Sabha about Goddess Durga.
"The human resource development minister must apologize for her remark about Goddess Durga," Congress leader Anand Sharma said in Rajya Sabha.
Siding with the Congress on the issue, CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury said: "The quote was deliberate. The BJP used the entire debate to polarize. What was the need to bring in Goddess Durga? Irani has to apologize."
