Only documentaries praising Government policies will be allowed in future criticizes Chidambaram
Former Union Minister P Chidambaram joins the ongoing "Mersal" battle with a Saturday morning tweet.

Chidambaram has tweeted "BJP demands deletion of dialogues in 'Mersal'. Imagine the consequences if 'Parasakthi' was released today," "Notice to film makers: Law is coming, you can only make documentaries praising government's policies" tweeted the former Union Finance Minister.
Incidentally the Vijay starrer Mersal has kicked of a controversy with dialogues criticizing GST and PM Modi's "Digital Inidia."
Before the release of the film BJP's Tamil Nadu State President Tamilisai Sounderrajan had stated "Scenes that convey wrong impressions about GST and Digital India should be removed."
Actor Kamal Hassan standing with the film countering this stand had tweeted on October 20, "Mersal was certified. Dont re-censor it . Counter criticism with logical response. Dont silence critics. India will shine when it speaks."
In the film, Vijay questions why when a country like Singapore which levies lower GST than India is able to afford free health services for all, why can't India with a much higher rate of GST do so.
In another scene the actor scorns "Digital India" by displaying an empty wallet.
"We have no problems against non facts. The film deliberately has distorted factual to show the Government in low light. In India basic education and health care services are free for the poor in Government schools and hospitals. The film shows that while there is 12% tax on medicines but no GST on liquor. Isn't this distortion of facts?" questioned H Raja, BJP leader from Tamil Nadu.
However all the controversies seems to have prompted viewers to make a beeline to the cinema halls.
The Diwali release has already started making box office records of sorts. The Atlee directed movie reportedly raked in Rs. 31 crores on the day of release all over the country and Rs. 22.5 Crores in Tamil Nadu alone at the seat of controversy.
