Odisha Government Under CM Mohan Charan Majhi Upholds Mahatma Gandhi's Principles for Public Service

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised his administration's commitment to serving the people in line with Mahatma Gandhi's principles. He spoke at an event in Cuttack marking Gandhi's 155th birth anniversary. Majhi highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, efforts are being made to realise Gandhi's ideals in Odisha.

Odisha Government Follows Gandhis Principles

Majhi noted the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, initiated on 2 October 2014, has reached its 10-year milestone in 2024. He stated, "The country is cleaner today than before. Millions of rural people have toilets in their houses now." This campaign has transformed into a successful movement across India, fulfilling one of Gandhi's visions.

Development and Welfare Initiatives

Another of Gandhi's dreams was the upliftment of society's lower strata. Majhi mentioned that over 80 crore people now receive free rations. Villages are equipped with all-weather roads, drinking water, electricity, and internet access. "Gandhiji had said that the country can be developed only if our villages are developed," Majhi remarked.

Majhi praised PM Modi's dedication to improving the lives of the downtrodden, poor, and women. He highlighted that India's villages are now at the forefront of national development under Modi's leadership. This reflects Gandhi's belief in village development as a cornerstone for national progress.

Environmental Initiatives and Achievements

In another programme, Majhi discussed the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative launched by PM Modi nationwide. Odisha aimed to plant 5 crore trees, and so far, 4.40 crore trees have been planted. This initiative underscores the state's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav attended the event. He shared that since Swachh Bharat Abhiyan began, 5.50 lakh villages across India have achieved Open Defecation Free (ODF) status. This achievement marks a significant step towards improving public health and sanitation.

The efforts led by PM Modi continue to focus on realising Mahatma Gandhi's vision for India. These initiatives aim to uplift rural areas and improve living conditions for millions across the nation.
