Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Urges Ministers to Expedite Developmental Works and Spending

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged his ministers to hasten people-centric projects and boost development in the state. This directive was given during a Council of Ministers meeting he chaired on Monday evening. The meeting included Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo and other ministers, where they assessed the progress of various departments.

Mohan Charan Majhi Calls for Faster Development

Majhi emphasised the need for departments to increase spending and prioritise developmental activities, aligning with the budget provisions for 2024-25. He reviewed expenditures in health services, infrastructure, social security, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya, and rural drinking water supply schemes.

Infrastructure and Development Focus

The meeting also covered road and bridge construction progress by the Department of Public Works and Rural Development. Discussions included improvements to the National Highway in Odisha, opening cold storages, school enhancements, and water resources projects. The release of the fourth phase of the first instalment under Subhadra Yojana was also on the agenda.

Majhi highlighted the importance of strengthening police services and advised department secretaries to initiate new programmes. He acknowledged that many departments have performed well but stressed achieving a 100% expenditure target before the upcoming budget presentation in two months.

Encouraging New Initiatives

The Chief Minister encouraged ministers and secretaries to move away from traditional methods and implement innovative long-term schemes within their departments. He informed them about Utkarsh Odisha, the state's flagship business summit scheduled for later this month.

While reviewing overall expenditure, Majhi found it satisfactory but insisted on further improvements. He urged all departments to ensure complete utilisation of funds before the budget session in the Assembly.
