"People should not be scared. The NRC procedure has been done without any bias. I would like to assure that all those who have been left out will be given a chance to raise objections," he said.

"Some people are unnecessarily trying to create an atmosphere of fear. This is a completely impartial report. No misinformation should be spread. This is a draft and not the final list," he added.

"Even someone whose name is not in the final list can approach the foreigners tribunal. No coercive action will be taken against anyone, hence there is no need for anyone to panic," he further said.

The government today released the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRCNSE 2.22 %) list. The final draft contains names of 28,983,677 citizens and around 40 lakh people have been left out of the list.
